Happy Halloween

You've been framed

Simon bought some picture frames this weekend, because he had some photos that he thought it would be nice to display at home and also give as gifts to proud parents. He showed me this one
 What a lovely family photo.

But this has appeared next to his side of the bed
Should I be worried?!

Eu nao tenho nada a dizer

Not much happening lately worth blogging about (is there ever?). My "little" girl (aka Ladybird, age 20) went on Brownie camp last weekend. I was a good mum and packed her off with her girl guide blanket - badges sewn on - and a midnight feast.... Ahh. She text me on Saturday night to say that she was "busy acting dumb about midnight feasts". I'm so proud!
Watched the Rugby World Cup final on Sunday. Great to see Steve Donald get a look in. Well done to the All Blacks. I've been watching too much T.V. lately really. Apart from the rugby, I'm hooked on Waterloo Road, Doc.Martin (I think this character might be based on my husband...hee hee), Downton Abbey and Strictly Come Dancing. I am turning into a couch potato.
Today it has occurred to me that hairdressers should be known as the 4th emergency service. Sod the AA. I've had a really bad hair day, nay, week. I've been looking like one of these chicks.......

Having had my hair done this evening, I feel human again. My hairdresser is a life saver. But then I saw this...

and felt guilty. Maybe I haven't quite got my priorities right.......maybe!

Here comes Halloween...

Took the dog out on Saturday and discovered a new area to walk just off the A127. There were views for miles over London. Maybe we will go after dark on Guy Fawkes night - the view with all of the fireworks lighting up the sky would be spectacular.
When we returned to the car, however, Rolo seemed a little confused over who was driving home...........

And she wasn't budging
The shops are full of halloween merchandise. I hate all those ridiculous masks etc. designed to frighten the living daylights out of everyone. Life's scary enough without all that rubbish. Here are some of the scarey things in my life this weekend  alone.

OK..... until it started moving

left on the kitchen window sill - yuk!

What a Scorcher

Not a grain of sand in sight
Started the weekend with a much needed massage on Friday after work. Watched the rugby first thing Saturday morning and then decided to make the most of the great weather by travelling to Clacton-on-sea for a spot of sunbathing. Next time I must remember to check the tide time-table. Clacton was well and truly on sea. No sign of any beach anywhere so we basked ourselves on the promenade instead. Once the sun had gone down we stuffed our faces with ice cream and donuts - well that's what the great British seaside is all about isn't it. I haven't been to Clacton for about ?20 or more years. My Dad's parents lived there in later life. I have good memories of a weekend spent there with 3 girlfriends, in a house my Dad owned, when I was 17. Still can't believe my parents allowed that. I must have some photos somewhere. I'm not entirely sure the journey to Clacton was worth it. The traffic was heavy both ways and diabolical on the return journey. Thank goodness we discovered Absolute Radio on 1215MW who were playing classic rock:- The Boss, Marc Bolan, The Who, The Eagles etc.
On Sunday we attended church and did "tea duty" (just polishing my halo) and then went to Barleylands Craft Village to see the latest Material Girls exhibition, which was excellent as always: So colourful and unique. I do miss Matgirls, but I think their standard is way above my capabilities nowadays and I really don't have the time to dedicate to textile art at the moment. Aah well, when I retire......Then it was straight down the gym to try and work off all the excesses of the weekend. Why does Monday come around so soon? And why didn't the housework fairy visit while I was lazing about?
