Eliza Audrey

Finally finished this little ballet-style "cardy" for our family's newest member, who has been named after her two great grandmothers. The first photo of the baby wearing the hat my mum knitted in her last days, in readiness for the birth, together with the news of her beautiful names brought tears of joy to her Great Aunt Rebecca! Now I can send my knitting effort and congratulations card. Only 2 months late.....

Day out in London

Went to a Lunchtime Concert in St.Martin in the Fields by the Florian Quartet

Programme

Haydn – Op. 20 No. 2 in C

Bach – Contrapuncti 1, 4, 11, 5, and 9 from The Art of Fugue

Afterwards we had a cuppa in the crypt followed by a picnic in St.Jame's Park. Then we walked past Buck Palace and went to see the new(ish) Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park. A staggering 55,000 lives were lost (half of Bomber Command) at the beginning of the war. I signed a petition asking for further recognition for the good works of Robin Gibb (R.I.P.), including his tireless contribution towards the Bomber Command Memorial. The petition is asking for him to be given a posthumous knighthood - pointless really, since knighthoods are never given posthumously, but I signed it anyway!
