Christ's Crucifixion

I'm getting there. Finished my C.C.S. project last weekend and having spent the whole bank holiday doing my course assignment for work - it is done. Hurray. Perhaps I can have a few weekends enjoying myself for a change. (once I've caught up on the housework etc. etc.) Looking forward to getting out in the garden, if only the sun would come back.

Enjoyed some time off work over Easter. Went to the Ideal Home Exhibition with Simon. Haven't been for a few years and really enjoyed the day. Spent atleast 2 days doing my assignment for work - half completed now, but it will have to go on hold for a week or so due to other priorities. Had family round on Easter Sunday after church. Have been given far too much chocolate (shame!) most of which has been consumed now. Easter Monday was spent planting the strawberry plants I have been given and buying and planting some lovely colourful primulas. The rest of the day I spent relaxing. No washing/ironing or housework done - lovely day!
Spent last weekend starting my final C.C.S. project. Decided to interpret my thoughts and feelings about the meaning of the Crucifixion by designing a quilted hanging instead of trying to write another essay. What a great excuse to do some textile art including fabric painting, machine embroidery, applique, beading etc. I have made a start and I am rather pleased with it so far. Need to spend this weekend completing it, because it's due to be handed in next Monday.
Housework has not been a problem lately - just haven't done any! Internet Sainsbury's shopping has been hassle free. Simon has been really supportive doing cooking, ironing and bringing cups of tea. He has made me promise not to do any more courses in or out of work for a long long while.

Too busy to blog

Just as I thought - can't find the time to blog very often. I've even resorted to on-line grocery shopping to see if saves a couple of hours each week. Trying to keep up with C.C.S. studies and a degree level 'Mentoring and Enabling Learning' course for work (yawn!) on top of a full time job and the usual household chores is proving a challenge for me. Really looking forward to some annual leave in a week or so.

Stonehange Rocks!

Just as I thought - not had time to update my blogg for over 3 weeks. But I will keep trying. Had a fantastic short-break with Simon in mid-January when we were in the midst of all that white stuff. Travelled to Wiltshire visiting Stonehenge on the way. I've never seen it covered in snow before. It was bitterly cold and part of the footpath was closed (good old health & safety), but interesting and scenic. The rocks really rock! Stayed in Salisbury and visited the cathedral and medieval town etc. Most enjoyable.

Epithany

Christmas is officially over. The Magi had no sooner arrived when they were packed away and put in the loft until next Christmas. The only reminders of the festive season now are a beautiful red poinsettia and outdoor lights (not switched on) because I refuse to take them down in this weather.
Travelled to work easily this am, but it took 2 hours to get home on
the bus. Tomorrow will be even worse

Awaiting the snow

I can't believe the weather forcast and I am not looking forward to trying to get to work in several inches of snow tomorrow morning. I hate all the uncertainty of whether the buses are running or not: Shall I wait at the bus sstop and for how long? Should I drive in? Shall I try and walk? Will I be able to get home again? Decisions decisions!
Apart from that, I have arranged to take 2 days off next week so that Simon and I can visit Salisbury for a short break. Apparently Wiltshire is expecting 25cm snow tonight so that should be fun. Maybe it will have all melted by then - we'll see.
It's now 11pm and no sign of snow so far. Let's see what we all wake up to here in Hornchurch.

Happy New Year

O.K. I set up my blog last February and left it blank and here we are nearly one year later and I have decided to have a go at blogging. I don't think for one minute that my life is interesting enough to be writing a blog very often, but I'm going to give it a bash.

My new years resolutions are:

1) Lose weight (the same resolution as for the last 18 years. Prior to this it was always to give up smoking and 12 years later I suceeded. So who knows?!)

2) Regular blogging (as oppose to jogging)

3) Read more

4) Drink more (both water and alcohol!)

I went reluctantly (it was cold) for a walk today. My other half wanted to try out his new camera and I was needed to hold the dog lead. I took my camera too and attempted to capture the beautful sunset. It was only about 4pm.

Back to work again tomorrow. The festive period is definitely over, but I refuse to take down the decorations until the 6th January, since my 3 wise men haven't reached Mary, Joseph and Jesus yet - they move a little further along the shelf each day until they arrive on Epithany!
